Talia

By: Akki

"Raine! Daylynn! Get out of here! We're under attack. Raine, protect Daylynn and stay together!" The raven haired girl nodded, "Talia, take my daggers. Don't die." She spoke through a choked voice. Talia hugged her sisters tightly, "I won't die, you keep your daggers. They're only humans. Now go!" She released them, turned, and walked toward their door and their flaming village with only a large silver scythe. "Artemis protect me." She whispered as she walked out her door.

Outside was full of smoke and fire. The air was filled with screams of pains and howls of rage mixed with the roar of flames. Talia joined in the fighting alongside her friend Aura.

"How are we doing?"

"I'm not sure, I know that my brother has a higher kill count and the humans have some force helping them, I sense it strongly in four different places."

"Let's fix that count." She smiled grimly at Aura.

Talia sliced the head off of the nearest human, Aura stabbed into a man and slashed upward, his arm and shoulder fell away from his body, but remained attached as he fell, dead, to the ground. "Impressive," Aura turned and faced her twin brother when she heard the comment. "Thanks. We're tied for kills now. How about next kill wins?" Auron nodded, "Alright. Whoever kills..." He looked around for a moment before his gaze fell upon a pale woman with a long black braid, "Her!" He pointed to her. Her icy blue eyes turned to the trio slowly. "Your on." Aura and Auron shook hands before advancing on her with their Katana's drawn and poised for attack.

Auron was ahead of Aura by a few yards feet. The pale woman lifted her hand slowly, palm raised. When it was level with his chest she lifted her palm towards herself, then turned her palm to face Auron and pushed away from herself faster than they could see it move. A long, thin ice shard pierced his heart. He looked down at it dazedly, then looked up at the pale woman, dropping his katana. "Auron!" Aura and Talia screamed together. Talia stood in shock as Aura ran forward and caught him as he fell, dying. Talia watched as Aura slowly lowered her twin brother to the ground, she noticed blood on the back of Aura's shirt, exactly where the ice had gone through Auron's back, Aura didn't seem to pay any mind to it. "You killed my brother! I will destroy you!" Talia stood, still in shock, as Aura advanced on the pale woman, her hands becoming more clawlike. She had killed Auron, and Talia knew Aura was next. Life seemed to go into slow motion as she tried to reach Aura. The pale woman blocked Aura's slashes and thrusts until she knocked the katana from her hands. She slashed Aura's throat with a dagger she had, seemingly, pulled from nowhere then stabbed into her right side just beneath her ribs. She pulled out the dagger as Aura stumbled back towards Auron's body. She fell on her left side beside him, bleeding from her throat and stab wound. She grabbed her brother's hand and closed her eyes. She died thinking that now she and Auron could leave. Their souls, however, lingered, waiting for something.

Talia slashed the pale woman across the back, "What is your name? I wish to know the name so I may know whom I reap my vengeance upon." She glared as the pale woman slowly turned to face her, as if she didn't feel the scythe slash across her skin, "You will have no vengeance from me. Talia, I am to be your executioner... Winter." She moved to one side as Talia slashed at her again. She dropped into a crouching position and cut Talia across the leg. Talia slashed with her scythe and cut Winter across the cheek. Winter slashed upwards with her dirk and cut Talia's wrist from her hand to the middle of her forearm. Talia saw the dagger was made of unmelting ice, and sharper than Aura's katana. Winter summoned another ice spike, long and thin, and propelled it fully through Talia's shoulder. Talia slashed with the scythe a final time, missed, and was stabbed through with Winter's sword, right below the center of her ribs. "I told you I was you're executioner, Talia. Goodbye, your family will follow you soon." She smiled coldly as Talia fell on her side, a few feet from Aura and Auron.

"Her family is dead, and we have all of the red haired females of the pack together. Verryn will be looking over them soon." Winter had her back to the speaker, looking at her three latest victims. "You are bleeding, I see you had a bit of a challenge, Winter." Winter turned around, the speaker was a young woman with her long brown hair in a braid to her waist much like her own raven hair. "Kendra, have the others returned?" Kendra nodded, "Sira and my brother are waiting with the females we took. We will find the red haired girl. Let's go." She turned and walked away. Winter lingered and gazed at her victims a moment longer. "Goodbye, Damien will miss you." She removed a silver necklace from around Talia's cold white neck.. She wrapped it around her wrist, knowing that he would look for it, and she would kill him when he found it. She would also take the necklace he wore from Talia. She followed Kendra, distantly, from the still burning town.

Unfortunately for the females that had been spared, none of them were not the girl Verryn had been looking for. The faced a fate worse than that of their families. There were only four of them. Winter killed the first one with an ice spike. Kendra killed the second slowly by cutting her wrists and other places on her arm deeply and watching her slowly bleed to death. Sira and Aaron could not kill the last two, they were only children. Verryn stopped the heart of the younger one, then did the same to the other.

Aura, Talia, and Auron stood overlooking their home. They said nothing, Aura was unable to speak from her throat being slashed. She cried silently as she turned and faded as she walked away. Auron placed his hand on Talia's shoulder before following his twin and leaving her standing alone. Talia leaned on her scythe. She touched the necklace Damien had given her on their last night together. Standing straight, she grasped her scythe in one hand, and turned. She looked over her shoulder one last time before following Aura and Auron and fading from the view of the living.
